Doesn't modern science contradict the Bible?

No. In fact science confirms the Bible in many ways. Of course, this is somewhat dependent on the way the Bible is interpreted. Even though science and religion are viewed today as antithetical, it was not always this way. Indeed the modern scientific method of experimentation arose from the Christian world view that the God who created the world was an unchanging and rational God.

"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever."
(Hebrews 13:8)

"Come now, let us reason together," says the Lord
(Isaiah 1:18)

If one believed that the world was ruled by a fickle and moody god, then there would be no hope of reproducible experiments and scientific observation leading to unchanging and logical laws of nature.
