to Questions - The Bible and
Archaeology
Do modern archaeological
finds support or contradict the Bible?
Archaeological finds continue
to overwhelmingly support the biblical record as being accurate. Where
contradictions have arisen, most have ultimately been resolved when
additional discoveries are made or additional analysis is done.
Still, archaeology cannot
PROVE the Bible since archaeology is merely a glimpse into the past using
the scant evidence that it reveals. It cannot prove that any biblical
figure actually said what is recorded, but it can certainly lend
credibility to the existence of people, places and events as the Bible
says. The old adage applies: "absence of evidence is NOT evidence of
absence" and there is little doubt that new finds will shed light on many
of our questions.
